Year 7 Transition

Year 6 is a pivotal year for our students as we celebrate their last year of primary schooling and support them in preparing for the next step – secondary school!

Within the school we have developed programs to enhance the leadership skills of our upper school students, in particular our Buddies Program with Foundation.

We also work with our students to develop their study skills and autonomy (such as using diaries), ongoing project work and group work to promote lifelong learning.

At the end of Year 5, students apply for leadership positions for the following year, and they work closely with the school’s leadership team to ensure student voice and a sense of agency.

Early in the year, families are asked to complete a transition form for the following year, including your preferences for high school. The High Schools manage these processes. Later in the year we run transition programs with your child’s high school, including a full day visit. It is an exciting time for everyone!
